Want to make 2.3 ranger sound like a truck!

Hey guys, i have a 94 ranger with a 2.3 4 and i would like to give it a deeper sound. I want something really low and rumbly. also it runs good but idles like a john deer so its gonna be comin in throbs out the exhaust! lol
I just want to make it sound more like a truck and not so obvious its a 4 cylinder. thanks

You need to search the post, I've got a 85 Ranger 4by2 with a 87 2.3 fuel injection, 5 speed, no cat, simple 2 inch to the Turbo 2 inch going through dumping out in front the back tire....I removed that silly snorkle with the 1 inch hole so the motor will breath better...I got a rather throaty effect at a reasonable cost...But no matter what you do, it'll never really sound like a real truck...

It's like trying to make a Suzuki sound like a Harley, it don't work.. (I know, I tried it and ended up buying a Harley) In my opinion you can make it sound like a ricer, if thats what you want, great.
Personally I would suggest putting a stock muffler on and keep it quite so nobody will know what you have in it. My cure for lack of power is to add four cylinders, I,m building a mild 300 hp 302 for mine.

Put a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler on there. It gives it a nice "truck" sound, kinda smooth and deep. They're only $80, and they make them vehicle specific, which means it comes with all the right size inlets/outlets and factory-location hangers, so you can just bolt it on if you want. I heard a FM 40 series on a ranger 4cyl once, it sounded good at idle but it got really raspy/ricey sounding when he got on it.
