1969 one Ton Highboy….
I know. But if they DID, this is awfully close to how it would look.
I came across the second owner of this truck, a fantastic guy and fellow Blue Oval fan, who was responsible and deserves any credit. Just trailered it 400 miles home, so am the fortunate third owner.
It is actually a 1969 1 ton rear end, stake bed, cab, and engine (360) sitting on a 1968 F250 highboy frame and running gear.
- The 1 ton had 33,000 miles on it
- The F250 had 17,000 miles.
Not kidding. Everything on the truck is original, except things like carb, etc. Pedals are hardly worn, original seat. AM radio works. Dash pad has a few cracks but not bad. The hubs are the old factory hubs… the shifter has zero slop and the transfer case just clicks into gear. Even the door seals are original in good shape. It’s just…
The original wood that the stake bed was mounted on was still in great shape and is all there…
It will be living inside here at my place too, out of the elements.
The first owner used the trucks for his business, and when they were replaced with newer trucks he just stored them in the shop until the second owner came across them.
The second owner did the cab and engine swap because the F250 cab was rough, and because it had been sitting so long that the motor was locked up. The One ton, however, had been stored inside the first owners shop and was periodically started up to keep it running.
After swapping everything the last owner did details like new seals, exhaust, shocks, carb, gas tank, starter, distributor, plugs, steering stabilizers, tires and the like. They redid the bed, and added a headache rack and mounted the spare tires where you see them. He also chased the old vintage taillights and found a NOS set along with other little details.
I also have the original rear axle and rear leafs from the F250 just in case. 😊
There is a small amount of rust at the passenger fender as youll see,
My plan is to leave the body as is, because there is great light patina and it shows the trucks original survivor condition.
The one thing I’ll probably do is remove and strip the factory brush guard, and repaint it Wimbledon white.
The original windshield is in really good shape and has the old stickers back to 1981. It has a few wiper scratches on the passenger side that I’ll see if I can polish out.
Other than that a good chrome and paint polish, and chase a few things like washer bottle and a bad dome light switch etc
Open to thoughts and ideas as to keeping the originality… For instance, I believe the highboy wheels were white, but I don’t know if the 1 ton wheels came in black… I believe they did. I suppose either could be considered “original”. I use quotes because remember this truck never existed from the factory

I’ll post more detailed pics but here is a start
