bronco II Air Conditioning

Hey all, I got a 1988 2.9L Bronco II with air conditioning. The compressor clutch is not engaging. I measured the Voltage on the connector to the compressor clutch, I measures 0 Volt.
The pushbutton with the blue light in the dasch is on.
I measured the 30 Amp fuse in the fuse compartment in the car and this is ok to. Are there other fuses or relays that I can check?

Regards, Ray

Low Pressure cutoff switch

There's a cannister located on the right side of the engine compartment, that's the acumulator. There is an electrical connector on the low pressure cutoff switch. Remove the connector and jumper it with a wire. The compressor clutch should work now, but you probably have a leak and the freon is gone. You need to properly recharge the system and locate the leak. An automotive AC shop has 'sniffers' or dyes that will find the leak.

Sorry, I explained it the best I could. You should ask over on the AC/Heating forum and maybe someone could explain it better.
Since you don't know anything about AC, (the accumulator) you should have a professional look at your vehicle. The AC system has very high pressures and a mistake could be fatal.

Hello again,
Thanks I will do that, as an electronic technician I’m able to check the electrical system if I could find the switch. As I looked at the place you suggested there is no switch in that area.

Ford Bronco II AC

What should the low side static pressure read. My ac clutch is not engaging with a 30psi static pressure at 70 degrees. I know there is power going to the ac clutch and that it works. Thanks for your help.

You're replying to a 19 -year-old thread!
What you say doesn't make sense, "My ac clutch is not engaging ... I know there is power going to the ac clutch and that it works." How can it be working if it's not engaging (working)? I don't know at exactly what pressure the switch cycles but I think 30 psi should close it.
