Alternator wire?
It had a ring connector on the wire that was half-assed crimped on, I tugged at it a little and it came right off.
I was considering replacing the whole wire however, it appears that it goes from one to two wires with a fusible link in it and I can’t find a replacement on the internet.
I ran out of time to get it completely unwrapped today so I could look at it more closely.
I suppose I could cut the end off the wire and just put another ring connector on it but the insulation on the part I could see today is hardened from getting too hot.
Anybody know where a replacement can be found or the best way for making another?
New plastic insulation and stud installed on alternator
End of alternator to fender solenoid/starter relay wire after I pulled off the ring connector..
Poor pic of solenoid end with fusible link
Pic of poor connector that apparently started this problem
Inside of poor connector.
If this were a daily driver and I needed it to get to work tomorrow, I would just put another connector on and go. Since time is not of the essence here, I’m going a little overboard with extra fixing. So far, everything I’ve had to fix has been behind/in front of/next to something else that needs fixing/straightening out. At times I find it hard not to go back to my old ways of throwing it back together and rolling with it.
My goal in general is getting it reliable and not having to take things back apart to fix something else later that could use attention now.
