Back in a 5Gen
looks pretty solid in pics. Does have some rust in the passenger side quarter (Utah...). Driver side was already replaced and comes with new panel for the passenger side. Will post pics later once I get it.
Not my first big bronco. Have had a 91 and 94. Both were 351s but auto. This'll be a toy i can build up however i want but do want to keep it fairly reliable. Probably will do some minor motor work ( cam, headers, maybe heads.) 199 hp is not going to cut it.... will likely lift it with extended radius arms, good shocks and maybe 35s. Might look at SAS up front or maybe super duty axles. Ttb will be OK for now.
Any advice or items to address right away are appreciated.
I've also see several kits out there for each. Pros and cons for each? what has worked for people? Cost, of course, is always a concern. Thanks.
not saying I don't want to do 1 tons. Just weighing my options.
spent some time in the shop today going over it, changed the oil, trans fluid, greased everything. The PO appeared to have taken pretty good care of the truck, mechanically anyway. Greasable ball joints, a couple u joints, new(er) bushings. The trans fluid was a bit milky. Used synthetic Mercon. Changed out about a quart of old power steering fluid too. Also semi synthetic Motorcraft 5w-30 and filter. I decided to hold off doing diffentials until I install the limited slip(s) or locker(s) and c clip eliminator. The front end u joints need replaced. Looks like the bearings may be rusty. Need to find a D50 stub shaft first.
walked my wife through few steps building her y block for her 64 f100 flareside 4x4 while working on the bronco, too. Now my parking brake light won't turn off... must have hit something. I'll look into it later.
