50% regens

For the last three regens the i-Dash has been showing apprx. 50% when a regen begins, normally it was around 100% on the i-Dash. Lately its been taking the percentage down to around 10%, i-dash shows "off" and while continuing to drive it will take it down to 7-8% and begin to climb like normal, then when around 50% it will start again. Is something wrong here or are these normal frequencies?

Try changing the soot % on the idash to DPF_RG.

DPF_RG is also a % PID. At 100% truck will regen.

The deal is how fast is it getting to 100% and why. Could it be winter fuel or more than usuall city driving or idling?

I haven't been working it lately, too busy hunting.....but why shouldn't it go to 100% like it used to?

What's the mileage at between regens? If mileage between them has gone down, it's probably due to more idle time and local stop and go driving like Scott said. There's also a PID for distance between regens.

True, the mileage has been kept minimal, 20-30 miles every other day with more idling. I had an assumption it was my fault but wasn't sure. I'll be back to my normal routine soon enough and will start towing again................... thanks guys.

The top left PID is the distance since last regen...

Default is 496 miles between regen IF soot % is below a threshold. It does not list hours idle, but is also factored in. Because of this, I did the forescan switch thing and enabled the auto-regen off check box. Now I regen when the idash says 100% and WHEN I have 30+ miles to drive. Prior to that it would regen at random and usually within a few miles from home or work and never do a complete cleaning. Mine will get down to 4% if I pull off when the regen stops, the residual heat helps burn out the rest.

Just think, 1200 degrees is coming out that tailpipe!

Yeah since October 16th to November 18th, with driving 36 miles (one way from my house/back) in the hills to the closed amusement parking lot for our county EVOC course for three weeks and three platoons, plus all the other driving I did, I put on almost 2500 miles during that time... my regens were out at about 500 miles each time. Just had one tonight. Going to post on it in "I really want to like this engine..." thread.

Yeah, unfortunately us 11 to 16 fellas don't have the option to turn off the auto regen... I WISH.

I have an up date since I added a couple of new pids as advised...my last distance from a previous regen was 242 miles, the latest regen happened today (45% DPF load) and after completion the mileage was 299. Also while in regen the iDash displayed "ACT" and "ON". I never have seen this display before, it only used to display "ON". Any words please?

I think there was some updates to the pcm and now the regen status was changed. Others to include me have the same message now.

Yeah mine does the same... alternates between ACT and ON, plus changes color between red and white... I just assumed it was the iDash update when I updated it...
