Hey guys, my injectors are on their way out so I am planning on getting injectors in the near future. I want to push good power and ideally I’d like to have enough power that it is considered fast, at least for a 7.3. I do not do a lot of heavy towing but here and there I do. I’m looking for the best injectors, fuel system, hoop, that would fit my needs, I don’t need specifics but just trying to get an idea of what to go for. Thanks!
Get your Fuel system working well
Eliminate all boost leaks, oil leaks and drive line vibrations.
Then do supporting mods like HPOP, efuel and Intercooler.
A chip can give you 50 HP, that might be the boost you need.
Injectors can be fun to pick and many here have their opinions.
Drop in KC turbo kit if you need more air or go the T4 route deepening on money and towing performance
It’s an automatic, my ts allegedly gives it 120 extra hp but I have my doubts, it hardly smokes at all but will chirp the tires at a stop and do burnouts a lot more easy.
Without spending a ton I’d highly recommend some 160/30 or 200/30 from Jim rosewood. Honestly I’ve installed 160/30 in couple trucks without tuning they run great.
A fun useable setup that I prefer is a set of 200/30 injectors, fuel system, upgraded hpop. KC300X stage 1 or 2 turbo and an intercooler, depending on what the truck is used for, gearing/tire size, and elevation.
Prolly gonna need a built transmission at some point, or if a manual a good clutch.
Okay thank you for the input! I’m okay with spending a little money, I don’t wanna blow my whole bank account out but I definitely want to put some power to it.
Add a second fuel filter upstream of the factory fuel filter. Many many posts on how to do this. The aftermarket kits also allow for using much larger fuel filters. For injectors the Bosch are usually the best. Replace the injector wires as well if any are faulty (check Ohm readings).
I just have a ts chip I got from a friend but I think it is not the correct pcm code because it doesn’t feel like it adds the listed power, otherwise I only have an intake, which doesn’t really count, the rest of the motor is stock. I only got the ts chip as a temporary power adder until I do injectors and everything, I plan on getting a hydra, fuel system, injectors, hpop, and whatever else you guys would recommend to do it the right way, I want to make sure I don’t just throw it together in hopes of making more power and skip things that may fail or cause it not to work right. I want to do everything right and the most cost efficient way I can.
Stock injectors with a "hot" tune are only good for like 50WHP, then you are limited by the stock fuel system,
Not knowing what tranny you have or your budget, I would invest on supporting mods before dumping any dinero into power adders.
-E-fuel
-Intercooler
-Bellow up pipes (if planning on staying with the stock turbo or a drop in aftermarket one)
-HPOP
-Down pipe or turbo back system (stock exhaust flows plenty minus kitty and down pipe)
-in tank mods
-intake (6637 is cheap)
-Tranny? If auto a good low stall triple disc converter will help (cheap) but not knowing your budget and the type of build this will be the $$$
if manual a good clutch is about all you can do to it.
Once you do all the above then we can start talking about power adders.
