What? A flathead...What?
Ford ruled the market during the days of the flathead V8 engine.
Chevy took that title away with the small block Chevy engine. I do not think this happened because it was better. I think it happened because GM made many of their engines compatible with various transmissions etc. You could fit a transmission from a big block to one from a small block or even a six cylinder.
Ford finally figured this out with the advent of their modular engine system. It only took a few decades.
That's a lot of weight for the flathead to push around. Even "full house" whatever that means.
I knew a guy like that when I was in high school/early college. He had a very nice 1969 Z-28 with a 302. But it wasn't a DZ 302, it was a homemade Boss 302. I don't know where the car is now. I haven't seen him at the Boonesborough car show in quite some time.

I always thought the ultimate revenge was putting a 352 FE in an early Camaro and watch the Chevy guys cringe. Of course, just between you and me, the 352 would have the heart of a 428CJ, just to add insult to injury when it blew their doors off. But the flattie Vette isn't bad either.

I know this is a ford forum but i hate most fords and there are only two fords in the world i will drive.
My Wrecker and my late fathers 67 fastback mustang.
I am a chevy guy by heart but i am here because this ford of mine isnt simple and easy to understand and fix. so i learn how to here.
my chevys are so easy to understand and fix, but this f5 of mine makes no sense.
I can fix my chevy with my eyes closed and the issue is always easy to find and cheap to fix.
My ford is the exact opposite.

The fact that NOTHING really surprises me anymore is really showing itself here with me looking at those pictures. The only question I have in looking at that thing is how did he route the other 3 radiator hoses?
Edit--Now I see the other side radiator hose routed into the left side with that custom piece. I'm sure he did something very similar on the bottom.

I dislike GM (government motors)
if I had a Time Machine I'd love to be one of the 2 drivers in the lead on the first lap. Those 56 fords would really run!
