Ok a little back ground information first....
I work for the State of Arkansas at a facility for mentally challenged folks.
I work 6am til 2pm... they provide lunch for the staff, since they have to feed the clients also.
Here's the problem...
I am very picky about what i eat off of the food cart that comes each day.
Well today was burger day...
I was starving, and they are usually good..
So I had 3.... The Staff ate, then we went to serve our clients and about 1/2 way thru serving we found 2 dead roaches "cooked" to the burgers.
Talking about making you sick...
Several employees got sick and threw up.
We called our supervisor, and the kitchen... They brough us some new, fresh burgers...
Well, about 5 minutes later we were giving lunch to the remainder of the guys.... A guy got sick and began to puke..
We called the infection control lady that works there..
She gave us each her number and said if we get sick to call her.
We all had to fill out workmans comp papers just in case.
Well... I didn't ever throw up until on the way home and all of a sudden it was there.... I came home, have slept most of the afternoon... been terribly sick, as have the others I work with.
I don't really know what to do about this.
I could go to the doctor (ER) and pay for it up front, and they may reimburse me, but Im not sure.
The bug itself doesn't bother me as much as the fact that what was on the bug... insecticides, or other chemicals
They supposobly bomb down there once a week for bugs, but apparently it isnt working.
I feel really sick, and I don't know what exactly we should do.
Any suggestions?
Go to the doctor. Even if they don't reimburse you, which they should, since you already filled out the papers, you would easily win in you had to take it to court (you would win court costs too I'm sure), especially with all the witnesses. So I don't think you have anything to lose.
No, I haven't called the phone number.
It's the ladies cell phone number, I plan on calling her in the AM.
I should go to the doctor, but its a bit late and i think im gonna try and sleep it off before I go to the doctor.
My grandma is the boss at the local health department.
Problem is.... It's the STATE that got me sick.
Im sure they could do something about it, but you know how that works.
I will be going to the doctor if this isn't cleared up by the AM.
Originally posted by dtpatt2 document. document. document. You need to go to the doc and get it on paper. maybe they can run blood test to see if you are fighting an infection.
I was thinking that myself...
A lady friend from out there that is a nurse, said they could draw blood and check for chemicals and such.
As stated: DOCUMENT DOCUMENT DOCUMENT
Go to the Doctors...get checked up immediately...
Sounds like a pleasant little case of food poisoning....Get Checked out...
The immediate action is to drink a LOT of water, preferably distilled - this will draw out mineral contaminants from your organs. Take a small amount of mustard powder, and do not worry if it makes you queasy. Continue to take this action for a minimum of 5 days - consume at least 1 gallon of water per day for that time - NO coffee, tea or chocolate during that time.
Minimize the contact with any chemicals, including Chlorine, Chlorides, and Nitrates, so no bacon, sausage or artificial sweetners.
Also whilst doing this, ensure that a doctor is familiar with the situation, and make sure that you take action against your employers, who need to be regulated and run far better than they are being.
Pesticides will respond to distilled water, or normal water if you can't find distilled, so do not worry about it. The actual bug, its juices and so forth are completely edible, so that is not an issue. Gross as it may seem, the bug is a small bag of protein - the pesticides are not. Most have Cyanides of some kind in them, and will accumulate if not washed out, so DRINK WATER. Milk is not a substitute, and Soda, Fruit Juice and other things make it worse.
68torino... we have enough problems with them being all over us. Trust me... But right now, I personally don't care what happens to that place...
Im still sick, Ive drank a ton of water and I still feel bad
Im going to the ER later on, when I have someone to go with me.
