2014 electrical problem
Yesterday my pickup decided not to start. It started fine, drove around town and made a few stops. At my last stop I shut it off for about a half hour. Went to start it to go home, turned the key and it clicked once under the hood and the dash lights all went out. Waited a few seconds and dash lights came back on. Turned the key again, clicked once and lights went out. Turned the key a few times and nothing. It sounded like a loose battery cable. Cleaned and tightened the cables, same thing. We put a booster pack on it and tried it, still just the click at the starter. The booster showed it was pulling somewhere around 30 amps when trying to start it.
Put the meter on each battery, they both were around 12.7 volts with the cables still connected.
I went ahead and pulled the starter off and had it tested. The guy at Oriellys said it tests good. I’m not sure if I trust his test or not, but I did hit the contacts with a battery and booster cables on the bench and it works like it should.
so, any ideas on what to check next? The batteries are a little low. I unhooked the negative cables on each, put a charger on them one at a time. One drops to around 12.5 the other closer to 13.
