I noticed when having TPS replaced that both front and back brakes are extremely worn so going to do them this weekend. Having electronic parking brake is new to me so my question is do you have to replace the bolts or can just the pads be replaced? I would say yes by normal thinking but thought I would ask some of you in here on your opinion. I fully understand the putting it in maintenance part but looking up pads, most just sell pads but some come with the shim and bolts. My thinking is that unless either has damage or missing, why would they need to be replaced? What is your thoughts? Thanks
The shims are for squeal. New bolts are for usually for TYY bolts. So you tighten them real well once per service and replace. If they give you new bolts I use them.

I noticed most set don't have either but there is a set set that comes with them at a way higher price. We're talking a good ceramic type pads cost around $ 72.00 but if you buy the ones that come with the shim and bolt, you're looking at $113.00. It's only one set. All the others listed only shows pads and lubrication. This is why I was asking. I come from previous trucks being disk front and drums in the rear.
I've gotten parts for cheap that are great. And had expensive trash. I go white box. Durago or Centric or Wagner. And some semi metallic. Sometimes you peel the sticker and the other brands are still on there. But. There are some brands worth paying more for. But I bet you could get rockauto set for less. Even with shipping. Work just fine.
I replaced my pads and rotors last year. After doing a lot of research, I chose Raybestos/AC Delco severe service parts. Raybestos makes the AC Delco severe service pads and rotors, so both are the same. I couldn't find all of the parts from the same vendor, so I used parts from both companies.
I can honestly say they are the best brakes I've had on a pickup. Much better than the OEM brakes were, even new.

i buy most of my parts at rock auto nowadays, especially brakes. local places can't come close to their prices anymore, as it seems the days of easy-to-find deep discount coupon codes are behind us.
I didn't know our trucks used TTY hardware for the brakes. For those that have done the pads already, did you find the torque spec or just tighten the hardware to "gut und tight?"
Went through Rock Auto ordered Wagner ceramic brakes. Came out to $50 with shipping. Money little tight this month so stayed on the cheap side for now. If needed, I can upgrade in a month or two. I also bought the brake tool kit instead of the usual c-clamp and wood. lol. I may have my older 96 Ford F150 sold which will allow me to bank some cash and get some maintenance done sooner then later. What service records I found shows the rear end oil was changed at 62,000 but nothing on transmission so I will have that done to be safe. My understanding is full synthetic oil is what recommended for the motor ( 2.7 Turbo) At least I will create a service file for the truck. I already having to replace multinational switch since the wipers went into delay mode. I replaced the switch for the phone and radio on steering wheel but didn't correct it so that means the clock spring is most likely the problem. The fun of buying used.lol.

They literally screw in to lock, you have to put them in service mode. it totally releases them (screws back)
Don't be surprised if you have a locked up rear caliper.

Yes, I did watch a few videos about the maintenance mode and how to put in and take out. Thank you. It's a very important to be done correctly. I will watch them a couple of more times just before I do them.
I did get the rear brakes changed but I will have to go back into the passenger side due the sliding pins isn't working correctly. I did get one side working but the other is just loose enough to spin but wont allow the movement needed and will cause uneven wear from what I have read. I can find those slider pins local or they aren't showing up in parts lookup. I am trying to get to the fronts this week if the weather will behave it's self. I would like to know if I will have the same issue before I order any if I can find them. Making some progress.
