What Code Reader?
As someone who can read a vernier caliper and adjust a carburetor, I have no clue about code readers. Did some internet searches and see blue tooth vs all in one types. Of course every “10 Best Code Reader” article has 10 different code readers. Interested in what brand, type, cost and satisfaction you have with yours. Also dislikes, things to look out for. I’m thinking of about a $150 price limit for my first one. All my vehicles are 2021 and newer, gas, 2023 F350 Lariat, 2021 Subaru Outback. Thanks in advance for your input.

They are all pretty much the same in that they pull the codes and display them for you. You can then take the code to Google for a 'what does this mean'. Some may have that feature built in, but Google is easy enough, and often starts you o n the path of possible fixes.
I have an Edge CTS unite I bought to track the EGTs and DPF (the 2017s did not have all the displays the newer modules have). It has a built in code reader and the ability to clear codes. I have used the code clear function on one code in 6 years, and that was when it was throwing a DEF heater failure code in the middle of summer. I just kept clearing it until I could get it in at he dealer.

I use a couple that work with the phone, saving having another device or display that that will soon be outdated anyway. I guess BlueDriver is what I've had around longest for code reading.
I used an OBDLink MX for a long time for FORScan but I guess that finally got outdated and will no longer connect with our laptop. So I bought an OBDLink EX with USB cord for that.

I've been using this Blue Driver code reader. I've had it for ~6-7 years and it has been flawless. It also has live scan which his very helpful for reading real time engine modules.
IIRC there were some after purchase or in app purchases with gets more functionality, such as ABS modules and maybe that live scan was an upcharge as well, can't recall. I did get those as well and I think the total purchase was right around $150.
Unfortunately I left the OBD-2 plug in my jeep when I traded for my truck so now I'm in the market as well, I'll be getting this one again.

I've been using the Innova code reader 5310. It has a lot of features. There are different code readers within the Innova line depending on the features you want from pretty basic to full blown pro mechanic.
