Kingpin stabilizer

So I am OCD about movement in the 5th wheel while people are moving around. My bumper pull I had fairly rock solid. My 5th wheel has auto leveling and I have JT strong arms along with an additional set of stabilizers on the very rear that I installed. I still have more movement than I would like. To be fair our unit is tall and has 2 stories so I'm sure that doesn't help. I am thinking about getting a kingpin tripod stabilizer but I am unsure of the benefit it will provide. Are they worth the money? Any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated!

Are you talking about that tripod thing in the front? If so, I had one on my first 5th wheel. It was noticeable but pretty heavy and cumbersome to use. I did not have any other stabilizer on the 5th wheel.

Yes, I figured it won't be real easy to tote but I got room if it helps.

I sold it with the 5th wheel but if there is an option for an aluminum version, I would look into that. It's a tripod so the material [within reason] would not matter to the stability it would bring.

I have a tripod but it doesn't really do much so I'll be adding a Steady Fast stabilizer system next year. I'd be surprised if a tripod made much difference over what you have now but if you do get one, I'd recommend getting one with adjusters on each leg. This is the one I have: https://balrvproducts.com/product/ki...ack-weekender/

I have an aluminum tripod. Easy to handle and it DOES add to the stability of the rig.

Are you using any lego blocks under the stabilizers? I use 5 or 6 under each leg with 6 point auto leveling. The shorter the legs the less wobble I get.

Stacking blocks as high as I can get away with does more to prevent movement than anything. I have a 43' 5th wheel with 5 slides, a 6 point autoleveling system and it feels rock solid unless the jack legs are extended over a foot.

Thanks for that tip. I never thought about that.

Sometimes the spot is so nice but it is on a severe slope.

My axles were also off the ground on the door side

I put Strongarms on my 43' and made no difference, still felt movement from people in the back while up front. Only real answer is having the jacks up as high as possible to eliminate the movement from them. A tripod on the nose won't help much at all. Even when anchored to 9800 pounds of truck it will move the nose.

I have heard from fellow full-timers that the tripod does help in the front and is especially helpful if you have a washer up front. We will be getting one to test that theory.

We have a GD390RK with six point self-leveling, triangulation arms, Anderson red buckets, and adjustable slide stands under the rear frame under the kitchen. The only thing that really helps are the buckets and rear frame supports. The triangulation arms did not really make an impact. I suspect it is because our system is hydraulic and pretty stable all on its own. Perhaps on other systems where the leges are manually adjusted square tubing.

MY DRV fifth wheel has the stabilizer brackets on a 15 degree angled outward so the stabilizers are angled, does make a different .If you want to spend the money, or have the skill level, modify the brackets. Going to do it to my friend's Grand Design.

Ours is a 2022 model. It has large front cylinders that are angled outwards. Probably a similar angle as your DRV. The middle and rear jacks are straight down.

Are you talking about modifying all of them? Or just the front ones?
