6.4 L Blues
2008,F250,6.4L ,XLT, Manual Trans. What causes all exhaust Blue smoke to disappear ,instantly after reboot of ecm.
let me explain, Blue exhaust smoke has always appeared since new and i use to drive through it until clearing, It seemed
to happen when the thermostat transition from cold to hot, Changed thermostats same result, Last year year upgraded EGR,
same result. Then My last resort, Thinking when electronics act up ,power down and repower, or reboot. Traveling at highway
speed, started to smoke, having a manual trans ,depressed clutch, cycled ignition, rein gauged trans, all smoked cleared
instantly. Continued with no problem. Has worked every time since. Is the ECM at fault Or delay in sensor feed back. Also
no engine fault codes, Oil & all filters Change every 5,000 miles, Shell 5W40.

From your description, I'd suspect that, after warm-up is complete, something is becoming stuck from flow combined with some other issue. When you shut it off, then start it up, the "something" has a chance to close/open/move/reset/etc. before flow ramps up now that the engine is warmed up. I wish I could give a better answer, but I haven't messed with the 6.4 much. The folks that know about this sort of thing don't often visit the "New Member Introductions" forum. If you post the same thing over in the "6.4L Power Stroke Diesel" forum, I bet you'll get some good answers going.
