Thanks for the photos !! This is what was described to me by my friend with the all original panel.. the washers! I wonder if that would help or make the difference in the 3/8” hole versus the 1/4” bolt? Take up the space? We’re going to give it a try!

The hood hinge on the hood sleeve should be a close fit. It’s enough for easy pivoting but 1/2 seems excessive. There is a lot of play in the adjustment on the cowl holes that may remove your sloppiness. Careful adjustment with a helper in the cab is a necessity!

I seriously doubt you have that much wear on the sleeves. That said, I do put dripless oil there.

Turns out the old hinges were actually shot. Too much play in the arms and some play in the holes that slip over these sleeves. Looking at them out of the truck you'd never really guess they'd be a problem. But what a big difference the new ones made just opening and closing it. Now no more of the annoying rattling! Hood is solid in the back zero movement.

Thanks everyone that sent pictures and looked up parts it was very helpful to understanding how this went together.
