The Lightning is a great idea for around town driving or even trips if you plan out your charging station visits. However, for me pulling our 10,000 pound travel trailer any distance at all, it just doesn't work. So, to answer your question, no. An electric truck doesn't work for me. A Mach E? Hummmm
Nope. Doesn't even budge the needle of desire for me. But then, there are zero new vehicles that even remotely interest me at any price. Maybe it's just part of getting old, but I miss the days of basic vehicles. I don't want to feel like I'm driving a video game, and I sure as hell don't want every little feature routed through the massive touchscreen distraction on the dash.
I had a Chevy Volt for a while...LOVED the PHEV concept, HATED the implementation. Everything was routed through the "radio", I couldn't even do basic adjustments like temp adjustments without taking my eyes off the road, and I spent entirely too much time trying to figure out what menu half of the other features were buried under....
If I could get a new version of a basic 80s/90s basic truck with just power windows (and I'll accept the usual power locks with it) and AC (because I live in Phoenix, and modern vehicles no longer ventilate properly without AC), but otherwise basic dash, basic radio, etc., with a PHEV drivetrain and a basic battery gauge...I'd be all over one.
But the modern version, cramming a bigger and bigger touchscreen device in the dash, and having to dig through 20 levels of menus to get to anything...nope.
