I bought my 2000 PSD 4x4 Limited Excursion used. It is the first Ford product I have had. I am now at 35,000 miles and am wondering if an extended warranty is in order. I have only had the truck 4000 miles and have had no problems. I can get a warranty that will take it to 130,000 miles for about $2000. I am trying to decide if the truck will encounter any problems more expensive than the cost of the warranty. I have had everything checked out (transmission, 4x4 system, etc) and all is well. I have had Dodge trucks with over 70k miles on them with no problem. I open it up to the group. Those of you that know about this sort of thing
LAST EDITED ON 21-Jun-01 AT 10:36 AM (EST)[p]I've got 47,000 miles (in 15 months) on my 2000 limited w/v-10 and have not had any problems. I didn't buy the warranty, but I follow the maintenance plan religiously and use full synthetic oil.
Yes I would buy an ESP but only if it was transferable to the next owner and/or refundable if the vehicle is sold before the plan expires. I always get the Ford Extended Service Plan when buying vehicles because I always seem to need and it gives me a good piece of mind. I'm currently buying a use 2000 Excursion Limited with 45K miles and I have the opportunity to get the Ford ESP on it. I'm currently selling my 98 Ranger with the remainder of the Ford ESP as a selling feature. If the buyer does not want it I can cancel it and get the prorated refund.
As a second Excursion owner, opt for the warranty if you can afford it now.
One front end suspension repair or tranny fix will eat 3/4 of the warranty cost.
If youcan afford it do it. Piece of mind is what it is.
Whos the warranty through for only 2000
Well I just purchased the 2000 Excursion with 45K miles and a the Ford Premium ESP for $1600 that covers me for an additional 24 months or 24K miles. Already I will be taking it in to the dealer because the front manual locking hubs are jammed. I can't turn them from auto to the locked position.
2000 ford excursion 64000 miles, blown motor...
That's more than the warranty cost.
Where can one purchase such a warranty for $2000.00 for that much miles.
You want to buy one now that the motor is already blown? I'm obviously confused...
There are many aftermarket extended warranty companies that will warranty your 2000 for 100K miles. Do a [link:www.google.com|Google] search for extended warranties.
Well, I purchased my ESP from the Ford Dealership I purchased my used Excursion from. The ESP already paid it self off with my last visit. The dealer replaced my front hub locks not the whole hub but just the manual switch part. They fixed my rear pinion seal leak and re-flashed the PCM to improve the economy, replaced my headlamp switch and replaced the front ball joints. There was a $100 deductible but It was still a deal.
Also, I have noticed an improvement in my mpg since the re-flash on the PCM but I notice a bigger difference in mpg just wit the quality of gasolines from one station to the next. I'm consistently getting 12.7 mpg and that is 90% highway and 10% city with a V10 and 4.30 gear. That's not too bad for a 7,600 Lb vehicle.
