That is nice, I love the color. I sure hope it does what you need it to do. Based upon your experiences with EV's you should be good.
I guess a brake controller is in the future. Maybe they would throw that in on the deal?
I don't know that I can push them any further. They didn't have time to run it through the shop or detail before I looked at it, and the tires looked like they had about 40% left. It's getting new tires when it goes through their inspection/detail process, and they let me pick. Looks like about $350 in parts to add the controller, so maybe I can ask.
I bought a Prodigy controller for my Model Y last month, so it's not a problem if they don't. The trailer is only 3,000 lbs loaded, which made brakes a Big Deal behind my 4,500-lb car. Much less behind a truck that weighs a ton more.
I could be wrong but if it has the 7 pin trailer connector at the rear, the brake controller may be integrated in the system with onscreen controls.
2011> models had a little module you plugged in and the dealer could activate it electronically.

Unfortunately, not. They sold the controller with the Tow Tech package, which this one lacks. It normally sits in this spot, just below the Pro Backup Assist, that’s also missing.
Scott gave me a good idea about asking for it. I planned on bringing my own financing from USAA, which is better than most dealer financing at 6.59% for 72. I asked the salesman if they’d be willing to throw in a brake controller if I went with their financing instead. Assuming, of course, they can match that rate.
The part is about $220, and it requires a new lower panel and dealer activation. I’m sure I can handle the second part with ForScan, and some dealerships are selling kits on eBay for just over $300. I’d probably just stick with the Prodigy, though.
On a completely separate note, I’m proud of my mounting spot in my Model Y. That car was prewired for the controller, but there wasn’t a great spot to mount it without a bracket. Two Command strips and a zip tie later…
Everything is set up for me to pull the trigger tomorrow morning, and they're making it *really* hard for me to back out. The salesman confirmed that it got the Firestone Destination A/T2s I requested and sent these photos. I think this will do just great.

Hey Tom congratulations on a successful hunt---seems you've found a nice vehicle fitting most of your needs & wants! I'll look forward to your occasional update or reports on ownership experience. Due your experience with EV's in general you're a perfect candidate to give knowledgeable feedback if only for that reason alone.
On another issue condolences on losing your daughter---I remember you sharing photos of her here on FTE while she was still a toddler.
Thanks, everyone. I got choked up on the way home thinking about how much Hannah would love the color.
I made it home yesterday afternoon and spent some time getting to know it. I’m a bit disappointed that the XLT model doesn’t support phone as a key, but that’s not a big deal. I’ll be upgrading the speakers at some point in the near future, but I’m happy with the 12” base SYNC display.
I got 1.5 mi/kWh for the 140 miles that I drove today, and plugged in at 41%. Ambient temps were between 34-48º, and I was cruising as fast as 77 MPH on the highway. I think my Model Y would have used a higher percentage, so it seems like range will live up to my expectations. It's much less efficient, but has a battery that's nearly twice as large.
I also timed it to 60 MPH with Dragy tonight on the way to pick up my boys At 71% SOC. Holy hell, this thing is quick.
I'll post a thread with more detailed thoughts later today or tomorrow. I'm really happy with it so far!
Congrats on the new trucks.... Curious to why you specified Firestone tires?
Thanks! I wanted an all-season tire with the 3PMSF rating because of our snowy winters here in Minnesota. This was one of the highest-rated tires in objective tests, and a friend has had positive experience with them on work trucks.
