Help Identifying Hose
Its right next to my fold down steps. I was thinking it might be hydraulic fluid? Its really thin but has a slight oil texture.....
So in addition to having a heater in the rear, you also have a rear air conditioner, and as such, the "slight oil texture" of the "hydraulic fluid" you are reporting sounds like refrigerant oil.
The lines are aluminum, fragile, and can develop leaks. If the lines were disturbed in the process of adding motorized running boards, the probability of the disturbed lines developing a leak is higher.
To find any leak in any closed system, TRACER DYE that is compatible with the fluid being tested is the quickest and most accurate way to locate and pinpoint the leak(s).
Members of FTE with Excursions have contributed a lot of information on rear HVAC line leakage.
Here are just a couple of threads, but there are hundreds of other posts in other threads that may even be better, that are only a search away.
