Put in new 7.3 blueprinted diesel in my 2001 F250 dually.. New engine, turbo, wiring harness, fuel pump, injectors, clutch, pressure plate, flex plate, bearing.,standard tranny ,starts cold and runs great. after it warms up it is hard to restart. have to use starting fluid to get it running. Any help would be appreciated.
It is extremely bad to use starter fluid. Sounds like an IPR issue getting hot. Try cold water or cold air on it when it won’t restart, see if that makes a difference. Any codes?

Thank you for the reply.
no codes, new IPR valve. I will heed your advice on the starting fluid
I was stuck and had to get it started. Lucky for me no problem occurred.
Yes, a scanner to monitor live data is a good idea. Post your data when cold verses hot, when problem occurs.
If no start when hot and everything else is good, it's usually an IPR, or chaffed wires to the IPR, ICP or chaffed wires to ICP. Do you have good oil in it?
How long has the engine been run since you installed it? Two miles? 200 miles? Need to make sure that the high pressure oil rails are cleared of any leftover air and only driving a ways will do that.
The other thing is, sometimes rebuilt injectors behave as you described. Happened to me. I put a set of rebuilts in and the engine ran worse than before I pulled the originals out. Engine would start and run ok when cold, but as soon as it got warm, then it would misfire and the starting wasn't that characteristic "Powerstroke bark" when the engine would catch. I would have to crank the starter for at least 5 seconds, then you could hear it kind of "taper up" until enough HPOP pressure was built up to be able to drive the injectors. Buying and installing a brand new, NOT REBUILT, set of injectors completely removed any of those symptoms. Now more than ten years later, engine still starts without any delay, regardless of temperature.
I always recommend and use WD-40 if the vehicle is having a hard time starting. I agree this sounds like an oiling issue so use Forscan to monitor the ICP while cranking and it should go to 1200psi in 2-3 seconds. The injectors need 450psi to fire.

@DP-Tuner I haven’t seen you post much in awhile. Good to see you and thanks for providing some help to the OP.
who did the work to your truck and how many miles are on it? Is it still under warranty? If so, I would let them look at it before doing to much work.
you didn’t mention a HPOP. Does it have a new one? Are you sure the IPR is motorcraft? If it is not, I would change it. Non OEM parts don’t play well with these trucks.
