I have a 1964 F100 292 V8 that the water pump has started showing signs of leaking from the weep hole and the bearing is rough in rotation. I have been unable to find a rebuilt or new pump that has the 3/4 inch shaft for the fan assembly. I have been able to locate the water pump for the car that has the same mounting on the engine but has the 5/8 inch shaft. Has anyone been able to adapt the car water pump to the truck successfully? It looks like would have to get a new pulley and buy a new fan and spacer assembly.. Are there other areas that need adapted that i haven't yet identified? Thanks for the help. Les.
I somehow recall seeing a bushing that goes on the water pump shaft and enlarges it to 3/4. I'm assuming that the bolt hole spacing is the same. If I'm correct, that would be an easy remedy....
Bolt pattern is the same as a 5/8" pump but the snout length is longer on the truck pump... It would involve some re-spacing of the pulley as well.
