On my 2020 Explorer they recently added a new component to where the E-brake is engaged once it's switched to park..Now a couple months later my shock is leaking fluid and is bad. I believe this is from the brake being engaged and the shocks being compressed. Anyone else have this issue?.
Seems odd. The e-brake "update" was a patch job to keep the vehicle from rolling away due to the recall that dealers can't seem to fix yet because of a tool back order issue. I can't see how the two correlate though.
When you put it in park it squats the back end of the vehicle down probably a good 1" or 2 and stays that way until you put it into drive and release the E-brake. So to me that's a lot of pressure on the shocks for an extended time. I'm thinking that's why the seal on the shock blew out. . Thanks for the feed back.
Gotcha, I'll have to see if mine does that next time, but I use my e-brake because I park on a slight decline. If it is related then I feel like Ford should replace it since it was their "fix" in the first place.
No noticeable squat when I put the e brake on, mine does not do it automatically though. I back into my driveway, foot on brake, put it in park, turn on e brake then foot off the brake. Doesn't squat at all, I'm also on a slight decline whereas the front it lower than the rear.
