I have a 1940 1-1/2 ton panel. I am trying to remove the headlight trim rings to install LED headlights. I was able to remove the passenger side trim ring. I undid the t-bar lock device on the driver side trim ring, but the trim ring will not budge. I have sprayed PB Blaster between the trim ring and the bucket with no success. I gently tapped on the trim ring with a rubber mallet with no success. Any suggestions?
TIA
Not sure on yours, but on mine there are nubs on the bucket edge that engage the ring to keep it tight to the fender. I had to use a nylon wedge tool to get between the ring and the fender to get them to pop loose. Good luck!
Thanks for the reply TW. I used a plastic tool sold by Harbor Freight to remove auto trim. One tap of a mallet on the tool and the ring shot off. The LED headlights (complete "sealed beam" type fixture with the LED bulb) installed easily. Vintage Car LED Headlights updated 6-volt headlights work from 3.5 to 24 volts and illuminate at crazy brightness on my 6-volt positive ground system just off the battery. Now to figure out how to aim the headlights. I have instructions for 1935/6 headlights, but mine don't seem to work the same. Off to "search".
