Issue no. 1- I just recently moved back to California with my 01 7.3 that I bought in Cali, but had to get registered when I was in NV. So now I need to get Cali plates and reg again so I need a smog cert. Well I have aftermarket bd performance tranny, coolers, torque lock and engine brake. When I bought the truck I had it smogged but now I'm told that I need Cali compliant stickers displayed somewhere on my rig for all the aftermarket ****. I don't have them or know how to get them. Anybody heard of this ****?
issue no. 2- for a few days my rig has been laboring just a little when I start it and kinda drags *** when I take off at first. Yesterday I had to jump on the freeway in a hurry and when I throttled the old girl she barely even moved. It took me the better part of 2 miles to get up to 65mph. What do you guys think? I'm about to get a new air filter, check my fuel bowl filter and see if there's a problem with my tps. Any other components I should consider? I had my injector cups replaced a few months back and my boy said my injectors were healthy. I want to nip this in the bud- help a brother out y'all. Thanks.
First thing I’d do is get a CTS Insight plugged in an stuck to the windshield so you can see for yourself what the ICP and IPR are doing. Lots of other helpful/nice to have data as well it will show in real time. Or you could use ForScan with a laptop and data cable but it’s really nice having a data display to always look at. It could be a fuel pressure problem also but that has to be checked manually with a mechanical gauge since there is no factory installed sensor for that. That’s all assuming it’s a motor issue and not a transmission or torque converter problem.
id just leave it registered in NV if possible TBH. They will get around to banning registration of all pre-emission diesels anyway mark my words. They already did with the class 4 and up vehicles. There might be loopholes for historic or show vehicles but yeah, they don’t really want your truck there.
the biggest issue I see is that you moved to california to begin with newsome passed laws will ban all small engines over the next five years, medium sized diesel trucks that do not meet xxx yyy zzz and its always a moving target in that regards. i give it five years and CHP will be pulling over people from other states that are passing through or on vacation and driving cars that newsome and his cronies do not like.
The advice I got from one of the guys in my retirement community's Gearheads group is to maintain a residence in Montana and register the vehicle there.
You will probably not find any CARB exemption stickers for your aftermarket stuff unless it is from Banks.

ForScan lite ($6), BAFX OBD2 BT dongle (~$20) and an android phone or tablet will give so much more than cts for 30x less $$$.
