So i have a 2008 F-250 with the 5.4 triton, the transmission has just over 236,000 but the motor has been replaced and has around 40,000 on it, a couple months ago i had this knocking noise that would come and go whenever my truck would start after sitting overnight and then it finally let go on me. After 4 weeks i put a new flywheel in myself with all the torque specs being right on the money, well last night it happened again but didn’t have any noises until it let go im just curious does anyone have this same issue and what is the reason that this could’ve happened twice now?
Does my truck need a gear reduction i have 37x13.50R18 and if so what is a good gear ratio to go to for better mpg, and less strain on the drivetrain?
So its a knocking sounds only when starting it up & turning the flywheel with the starter motor?
Or its a sound when its running in idle while its warming up?
