disk breaks on 72

I have a 72 f100 and I would like to know the benifits of putting disk breaks on the front... Right now im in the process of putting a motor in my truck, but I would also like to lower it using I beams. I have 20 in rims on it now so i dont know what kinda rubbing if any would occur. my break booster is basically shot in my truck right now so i can hear a vaccuum leak basically when i drive. is there a cheaper way to get a new booster, like rebuild it? or do you think i can get a good working one at a junkyard. I just want to know about the break booster and the disk breaks. Or if you know anything about lowering and the clearance also that would be great... Since it has 20's I would only want to lower it 2 to 3 inches, which also sucks because the rear would lower about 5.... with a flip kit. I know the front is lower then the back already but i dont know if it is quite 2 inches higher or not.... what is a better product djm or chassistech (aim i believe) and are they compatible with the disk breaks. What are the benifits or differences between drum and disk? thank you

Disk breaks are going to stop better. They are also cheaper to maintain, that is why I converted mine with 73 parts. I just pulled I beams with the spindle on them and bought reman calipers and new bearings and the rest of the brake components. All that at a little more then it was going to cost to replace both front drums which needed to be done. I sure would like to see a pic of those 20's.

I'm sure glad i bought that motor today.... CUZ, i was on my way home and my truck made a huge thud noise... I was like what the hell.... then i kept driving, and it kept doing it.... It kinda sounded like when your lugs are loose on your wheels.... So first impression i thought someone was trying to steal my rims. But then i get home and realize that they are all snug and tight so i start her up again, and put her in reverse..... Then it made a huge thud noise again going into reverse..... and so i put it in neutral and in drive and it did it again..... so i drove down the block and back, and periodically when i was driving it was making thud noises really loud and kinda making the truck pop forward like it was going to gear, so my transmission is messed up i guess... sound familiar to anyone? please help me out, if you guys think it is the tranny.... i guess if it is it doesnt really matter cuz im putting a new motor and tranny in, but, i would still like to know..

Did you check the bolts on the drive line and the U joints? These could also make those nosies.

I lowered my truck with AIM drop i-beams they worked great. But I have 15" rims. I also cut my coils 2" for a total of 5" I also flipped my rear axel. Your going to have to c-notch the frame or your going to be knocking the fillings out of your teeth when ever you hit a bump. I really like the stance of my truck. check out my gallery.

I also used disk brakes off a later model truck.
