Hi everyone, i just joined a few minutes ago. I currently do not own a Ford, but plan to in the near future, I am selling my 86 T/A and going to use that money to buy what I am exactly looking for, a 73-79.
I have owned a 1979 F100 Custom when I was 20, and a 1978 F150 Ranger when I was 23. Before that my dad had two 1979s. The first one he had was a 300 6 cyl, 3 on the tree, roughly around the time I was born for about 3-4 years. Then that rotted out, then he got the second 1979, was gorgeous, from when I was 6 until I was 16. It was a F100 302, 3 on the tree as well.
So basically between me and him we had 4. I moved out and since then I’ve owned a lot of vehicles, right now I have my daily driver I redid, a 1995 Chevy K1500 (sorry I know I know, Ford forum), and a 1986 Trans Am. I fixed up the T/A because I liked Knight Rider as a kid. But 4 years later, it doesn’t give me that giddy feeling anymore. So I decided that I am going to sell that, and put it toward what I’m lookin for, which is kind of a tall order, considering. Most likely I’m going to have to make my own. But I will be looking for 73-79, preferably 79, F100 Custom, long bed standard cab, 302 with 3 on the tree, in solid shape. Paint doesn’t really matter because I want it to match my dad’s old truck later on so would be re sprayed.
I apologize for the long intro, but it’s a little bit about my intentions, and look forward to the hunt and the progress after I find one, and sharing with the people in here. Thank you.
Welcome to FTE. hat sounds like a worthy project. There is a classified section, her in the forums and you might try just googling 1979 Ford F150 for sale, (if memory serves, everything from 1997 up is a 150, F100 was dropped.)
Check out the New York state chapter. You'll find a lot of good people in there.

Hello! Welcome to the forum. We hope you find some really valuable information on your vehicle search.
While I’m waiting to sell my car for funds, I’ve been looking around, and my dad must have really had a rare truck because I can’t find a 79, power steering, 3 on the tree, 302. Or any years for that matter with that combo. I may have to just build one myself.

Definitely rare these days. It doesn't help any that most of them are long gone. in the early `80s I bet there were a few around.
Yes it definitely was nice. I found 2 pictures of my old ones. The white one was a 79 F100 Auto with 302, the burgundy one I bought from Kansas, 78 F150 Auto with 351M.
So I’m looking at a truck and I’m not sure what the black box is with the lever under dash next to the hood lock release. Can someone tell me what that would be?
Welcome! That's my favorite generation. You've had some good ones. I'd love to get a three-on-the-tree like what you had. I wish you luck gettin' one special.
