Tried to search this topic but guess I don't know how. My 2000 needs a radiator, prices are all across the board!!! I do not need a performance unit, just a good all around one. Tasca parts has oem for $484.00, local Ford dealers around $750. I've had good luck with Tasca but trying to get one ASAP. The normal parts stores around here are about $380.
What is your planned use for the truck? If it's more light duty, then probably any radiator will be sufficient. But if you are going to the max on payload and towing, then the engine will make more heat than a cheapo radiator can shed compared to the factory one and you will find yourself overheating on hills. Even with the AC turned off.

Not going max payload etc., but thinking I don't want to go the cheapest.
Well, to cover every contingency, get the radiator with the biggest core. Most likely that's going to be the Motorcraft one for a 450-550. Only time I start to see the engine temperature rise on my 550 is when I'm blasting up a long mountain pass in 100+ degree days going full throttle and I still can't maintain speed because the vehicle is too heavy. EGTs are 1,200 and the boost is around 22 psi. Even then it takes some time before the cooling system cannot keep up and the engine starts to heat up. Factory radiator and Motorcraft thermostat. Radiator has been out twice for debris removal because it would start to heat up faster than usual and the cleaning fixed that.

I don’t even know if you can get a straight replacement radiator for your 2000. When I replaced my 2000 I could only find ones with the transmission oil to water cooler integrated into it. If that’s the case you might want to consider plumbing your transmission into the loop. Not required though…

This is how my ZF6 is set up. No external ATF cooler.
