Me again. A lot of you helped me out with great advice on my engine/trans swap and I appreciate that. That was a lot more technical that I was prepared for but it is done and I love it. Just for reference to help with my shifting question. Pickup is a 94 F150 that was a 5.0 and 4RW70. I swapped in a 5.8 and E40D from a 96. I used the computer, shift solenoid and trans wiring harness from another 94 that was a 5.0 with E40D. I tried using the throttle body from the 5.8, thinking it was bigger but the TPS would not plug in and the screws wouldn't come out, so I used the original 5.0 body which turns out to be the same. It runs great, way more power and shifts good MOST of the time. Once in a while it goes into limp mode and shifts like it is going to blow the U joints out. Might do it for 1 shift sequence or maybe 5 and then back to normal. I read about the rear cab brake light causing shift problems and sure enough, mine was burnt out. But the hard shifts continue. Checked my codes and the VSS showed bad. I swapped in a used one and still have the occasional hard shifts. I have read about the PSOM which I never had heard of before, causing this problem but the truck never shifted hard when I had the 5.0 and 4RW70, so I can't imagine that would cause it. Also have read about the TPS causing it and that was what I might buy next to see if that cures it. Is the TPS adjustable when installing or just put the screws in? I somewhat remember that it would move when the screws were loosened when I was trying to swap the throttle bodies. Was this hard shifting only a E40D problem or was the 4RW70 guilty too? Sorry for the long message. Thanks in advance for any help.
NO WAY !!! Sorry I get excited when I see the same paint job as my 94 F150. E4OD can be a pain. Unless I've missed something the TPS just screws into the throttle body. Make sure it's the correct way when installing and snug up the two screws. Lots of things could cause a rough shift and lots of solutions but hopefully someone here today can help you a little bit more than I can. Basically any sensors that gives info on when to shift to the computer could cause the issue. I had major transmission issues for awhile and one time a TPS fixed it and my most recent fix was an MLPS.

Yeah, I love this paint combo, or almost all of the great 2 tones of these years. I saw an ad without pictures and they said it was red. Pleasant surprise when I saw pics. Nothing against red, but this is a nice combination!

Yeah at first I wasn't sure on this combination but now I love it. Orange and tan really go together. Yeah I've seen some confuse it with red and it almost looks red in the dark or in a shadow but definitely orange when sun hits it. Always nice to see two tones out there. Much prefer it over a lot of these newer two tone trucks.

I had some touch up spray cans made with the factory codes and the technical name for the 2 tones is: Medium Palomino and Light Sante Fe. It even sounds awesome!
