BF Goodrich All Terriains stopped being good tires when the stopped making the KO tires. When they went to the KO2s, quality went the way of the dodo. I ran the old KO tires on BOTH my Excursions for years and consistently got 60-70K out of them. With the KO2 tires, I got 26K out of the 2005 Excursion tires and 16K out of the 2001 Excursions tires. I raised cane and they replaced them on the 2005 but once they wore out on the 2001, I went with Cooper AT3 tires.

They have a 50K warranty and unlike BFG they stand behind their tires. I never had a problem getting them balanced or getting them for a reasonable price. They are all I will run on the Super Duty/Excursion fleet. They have great on road manners and have a good grip off road when I step off pavement.

Same for the AT tires. First gen tires were great and purchased a set of AT2 tires and at around 30k miles on those tires had the death wobble event twice. I've ran several sets and brands of tires since then totally ~200k miles and never had a death wobble since.

I don’t run the ko2 anymore because they toss rocks/gravel really bad.

But they work fine, just match/exceed the load rating to your gawr (121 f250 and 123 or 125 f350 srw). The snowflake one has softer rubber, so avoid it unless you need that rating.

You got the stock size, 295/70/18, and a couple 305 sizes that should work.

The bigger 285/75-18 looks great on these trucks.

I have always been a BFG AT fan for all of my driving 30+ years. That being said, I tried the Mickey Thompson BAJA Boss AT 3 years ago. They are my new favorite. They are quiet like then BFG's, have great traction, and wear great compared to the BFG's. We ran them on our F350 SRW with a Lance truck camper and towing a 24 foot loaded enclosed trailer for 7000 miles out west trip. We were probably 500 pounds over the weight capacity of the tires ( didn't know until almost finished with the trip ) and they did amazing. They are a little more expensive, but they will last a while. Just my 2 cents.

I have seen a newer line of tires called the BFG HD terrain but haven’t seen much online feedback about them. Anyone here have them, and if so thoughts about tread life and all the common tire thread questions.
You ever get these tires? Looking at them myself as there are hardly any offroad commercial rated LT tires available and im tired of getting 30k out of a set.

Any non-bottom of the barrel tires should go 50k these days. My current tires are Yokohama Geolandar X-AT and they've got about 31k on them so far and the tread still reads 11/32nd average. In fact most tires I see these days have tread wear warranties on them. I think these I have were guaranteed as well.

The tire I'm buying next (as soon as they're available) is the new Falken Wildpeak A/T4. Should hit the market before spring. I'm going to get a set as soon as they're released and stack them in the barn for now, because new tires usually launch at promo pricing.

Thats actually a tire I have on one of my trucks right now. Every mile on my trucks are towing with probably 1/3 of that on gravel roads/off road. Over the past 450,000 miles accumulated between my 05 and 06 F250s ive chewed through most of the name brand AT and MT tires on the market in roughly 30k because of my use.

My mechanic turned me in the direction of the Toyo M55 this year but they are very expensive compared to this new BFG HD Terrain tire. Toyo CT, Toyo M55, and BFG HD are the only off road orientated commercial compound tires im aware of to purchase for my 2022. Ive had the Toyo CT tires and they were not good at all in mud which I absolutely need from a tire but did last about 60k overall.

I waited for them to go on sale with free installation and just ordered them December 31st, they get installed on the 11th unless I can get some free time away from work to get done earlier.

Have you tried Cooper ST Maxx ? Cooper ST Maxx is a commercial LT aggressive hybrid AT tire. I can't say if they beat 30k with constant heavy towing, but for all-purpose all-season and off road traction, ST Maxx has been very good.

Yes, did run a set of those and the ST Pro as well. Got the usual 30k out of them like the rest of the tires ive tried. The ST Maxx was fairly good in the mud for a hybrid tire. These new BFG HD Terrain tires look like a great mud traction tire and ill check back to see what Bruski updates us with.

I was planning to go with the Wildpeak 3’s come next spring but I recently realized they are being discontinued for the “new” 4’s. The 3’s have a great track record and I was excited about them, but now I wonder if they will mess that up with the 4’s… companies tend to do that (such as the KO’s it seems)…But, I am curious to see the price on them and hopefully get some feedback by the time I am ready to pick some up… and if they are lower cost like you say I may just bite the bullet and grab some earlier, but I hate being the guinea pig though…

I have had good luck with wear and traction with the Nittos. Both the mud terrain and the ridge grapplers. Back when BFG made the original all terrains I was a fan. Never tried them on a super duty though only lighter weight trucks. I have had decent luck with coopers at3 but for me it’s not aggressive enough for my truck. But I do run them on my work van.
