One other question, I assume the aluminum piece where the now broken plastic piece connected is the throttle body. I noticed the internal blade is open on mine. Is that normal? I would thought it would be closed when not in operation.
That governs the amount of EGR gas that goes into the intake. Not a diesel mechanic but I do believe I recall mine was closed when my intake was off the truck along with it...
I wish that were the case...the S&B kit doesn't come with a new retainer spring. The original replacement kit that I ordered from fordpartsgiant apparently does come with a retainer spring. Unfortunately, none of those kits are available from any dealership parts department.
Oh...I found over a dozen that said they had them in stock online. However, when you call them to order one...nope. I started calling after I had two online orders cancelled within minutes of placing order.
There doesn't seem to be an accessible link there. At any rate, that diagram doesn't appear to be the components I needed. Also, I found a parts supplier in Indianapolis that had stock, so I ordered 2 from them.

Apologies for that oversight. All I did was plug in the part number on Amazon, and that is what came up.
Here’s a pic of what I’m asking about. Moving it with my finger, it feels motorized and it only actuates about 15° to 20° up from the horizontal position it is in now.

That sucks man...
Did you say you already ordered the S&B and it DID NOT come with a new spring?

That is correct. I looked at several other aftermarket options. I did end up ordering the S&B…correct, it does not come with the retainer spring. I ordered the spring from a supplier in Indianapolis.

I wanna say any picture of that i've ever seen it's always in that position. I dont recall mine being closed when I did my SPE CAC install.

Makes me wish I would have taken a pic of it when it was off for my DPK kit install. Because I seem to recall when I was cleaning mine, that I had to open the butterfly to clean the crap in there... now, I'm not so sure...

Oh boy... sure does... especially when going up the hill I climb every time I drive to work... I pulled the metal tube out, cleaned it and the silicone boots inside real good, asked my wife to get her hair spray stuff, applied it to the tube AND the boots, installed it, let it sit over night and it hasn't come apart again.
