may be i should go with a 16 new set Of wheel ?
I would definitely peruse CL or FB marketplace for some new 16" rims... I wish one of the tire makers would kick us some love with the 16.5's but it has gotten nothing but worse over time, I have 3 sets of 16.5 slots and wish I could find a decent and economical mud tire for them, but I also have plenty of 16" rim options to keep them on the road.
My '79 F-250 back in about 1986. It came with 9.50x16.5 wheels and tires because it was a Camper Special and the 16.5 could carry more weight than 16".
I wanted taller tires without going wider so I bought a set of white spoke wheels, the cheapest 16" wheel at the time and they looked good
on my truck and went with 7.50x16 tires. They were taller and skinnier than the 9.50x16.5.
Not many choices in the 16.5 wheels.
These are 285/75R16 and I truck they are a perfect fit for my truck.
You didn't mention if your truck is a 2wd or a 4wd.
Tires have come a long ways over the years so 16" might be capable of carrying as much weight as 16.5" will.
Like others have pointed out there are just soo many more choices in 16" as there are in 16.5"
