Hi guys, I just bought a 1991 Bronco. It is red and the truck was never washed it;s entire life. It belonged to a farmer that didn't care the way it looked.
The problem is the paint is heavily oxidized. I waxed the truck 3 times so far and I;m still turning all my white rags RED. After all this work the paint does not even look that much better.
WHat do I need to do to get this paint looking better.
There's 2 routes: the hard way and the easy way. The hard way is to spend a day rubbing out the paint with polishing compound. The easy way is a product called Dri Wash and Guard. Do a Google search for "waterless car wash." Although this product was originally intended as a 1-step wash-and-wax, it turns out that it's great at removing oxidation. The stuff ain't cheap, but it saves an incredible amount of time and work. When you order it on the web, make sure they give you the specific directions for oxidation removal; I don't believe that's part of the normal instructions that come with the product.
