P2OEE

Got CEL today P20EE, I read what it is but is it ok to Drive? I have an appointment I made last week ironically to get the new recall done but have a camping trip from MA to ME, about 5 hours each way. truck drives fine and acts normal just don't want to damage anything I cleared code with Forscan and it came back a few miles later......22k on the clock maintained to a T!

I have had 2 random DEF faults in the past that have cleared on their own and assumed that the new computer recalibration would take car of that.....

I have a thread on it. Your SCR is bad and will require the whole rocket to be replaced. Check your DEF concentration. That is the first thing to look at.

Have them check the EGR and that is within limits too.

On mine, I took a few different extended camping trips waiting about 60 days for mine to come it. No issues at all. In fact it finally went away with the towing.

I just drove it as normal.

I emailed with Arod and discussed and he felt it would do no harm and he was right. Drive on.

Should be able to search for my thread on it.

Interesting, I was thinking it has to do with the software update that I have a recall on? I just put 2 jugs of Motorcraft DEF in probably 600 miles ago. Ill dig up your thread and read on.

Thanks Scott

It might just be that you were close on the operating parameters and the update put you over the top.

most likely it will still be there as a permanent code. It is under warranty so if it returns I would take it, have the parts ordered and in the mean time carry on as usual.

Well we dragged the 5er from MA to ME about 275 miles with no issues, truck ran great, same mileage as always. Unhooked and drove about 40 miles around town over 2 days and the CEL returned. No issues on return trip home, ran fine , same mileage but light never disappeared. Same code, nothing additional. noticed a bit of white (DEF) residue in exhaust tips. I have an appointment next Friday to get the recall done and have a call into dealer to give them a heads up about the CEL....

I'll keep yall posted!

it is now a pernament code and wont go away. You can turn the engine light off but the code will remain.

I would leave the check engine light on.

Update:

Dropped the truck off for the 22EO4 recall appointment I had made and also the check engine light with code P20EE. Dealer found TSB21-2248 and performed the reprogram and performed self test as well as 70 mile test drive of highway/backroad driving and all looks good. Also performed the 22EO4 recall and test drove and again all seems fine. I picked the truck up lastnight and besides a few harsh shifts due to the adaptive learning all seems good. I did notice some white residue on the exhaust tips, dry def I am assuming and am going to call and get the techs opinion on that. I am thinking that maybe its just from the testing/self test?

I noticed that my Forscan change for the auto regen on/off is still shown in the cluster but it is not functioning so I will need to fix that, I may also try to figure out how to watch parameters for the NOX while driving as well. I will post a link to the TSB below.

I will keep you guys posted!

Same thing happened to me. The Plain English setting in the PCM section got overwritten by the updated flash, so I had to go back in with ForScan and reset it back to Option 3 to re-enable it.

Pretty sure I had this recall for emissions done, but it was couple years ago. These emissions gremlins suck especially when you are out of town and towing.
