I put thread locker on the jets because it was mentioned around here somewhere, at some time, and I could see no harm in it.

Catapillar yellow, gloss white, or even a light desert tan would be good for leak detection and look cool.

Crankshaft is in! Everything went super smooth. Machine shop told me everything will be standard size as far as bearings go, I double checked with plastigage. All the mains were within spec. (.0018”-.0046”). All my measurements were .002”-.0035”

Double checked crank endplay as well, which was in spec. (.0025”-.0045”)
You can see the dial gauge right at .002”-.003”

pistons and rods are next! Stay tuned

Happy Friday y’all!

I've built quite a few engines in the years gone past, and loved every minute of doing them. Expecially when you fire it up for the first time.

I like putting them together but I LOATHE starting them. It's where all my gray hairs come from. I get so stressed-out and nervous.

Yes, I am also a card-carrying member of the nail biter club. Last hour before turning the key to the start position is filled with anxiety over if I missed something very important deep down inside somewhere that will cost me days of re-doing the job. But, thankfully, that never happened.

Hi everyone, getting ready to plug in the pistons and rods.

I remember something about the chamfer on the big end of the rods? Can anyone clarify for me?

I wanna say, big chamfer go towards the front of the engine?? Looked in the FSM and didn’t find anything on this…

thanks

Big chamfer goes toward the web on the crank. \rod rod/ if that makes any sense at all.

The chamfer is used to clear the radius on each side of the journal.
