I've been watching and using this forum and I thought it wasctime to introduce myself and my project. I acquired the 78 F150 4x4 that I bought new! My plans are to take it back to original condition except for the smog equipment. I've added a straight up timing chain and gears so far. My first thought is to replace the cam with something better but not lopey. Not sure that's a word. The internet hasn't been much help since 100 people have 100 opinions but I'm leaning toward the Comp cam 255deh. Anyone have any advice for my first build?
I forgot to add, I'm building a 351m that's. 040 over. With a C6. Adding new rings, edelbrock performer 400, and 4 bbl. carb. Sorry for the omission.

Reason: Engine size wasn't posted in first post.
Welcome to the lighter side of FTE. You don't mention your engine size so I can only recommend you take your query to the "Older, Classic and Antique Trucks" section. If you know the engine size, check out the "Performance, Engine and Troubleshooting" section. And, as always, stop by your Mo. state chapter and join them.
