Help please
I have a 97 f350 4x4 4 door srw long bed. It will run like new with plenty of power when cold in cold weather. Once it warms up it lacks power. Summer time it lacks power also. Even if the engine is cool.

Welcome to FTE. Sounds like this has been an on gong problem. Have you done anything in an attempt to correct it? Can you data log the truck?

I’ve changed a lot. Only thing I haven’t changed was the transmission range sensor, and the turbo.

Is your fuel filter black or anything darker than the nice tan it should be and do you have a way to monitor ipr duty cycle and icp pressure?

It’s black when I change it yes. Yes I can monitor it.

Icp says around 600psi at idle

What is IPR % duty cycle cold and hot at idle and 3k rpm?

If there is a big difference then orings on injectors are leaking.



Black fuel filter can mean bad orings on injectors too or algae growing in fuel tank.

If cold water put on IPR when engine is hot and power comes back for bit, then IPR could be suspect.

Yesterday when engine was hot and at idle it was 6.25% for ipr I’ll check it on lunch for the 3k rpm.

Icp seems normal. It goes from 600 to 3k
ipr however runs around 10-14 and only get up to 24-27 duty cycle.

I’m the 3rd owner. Truck has 246k miles. Bought with 202k. Been same problem from the start.

Do you have a Hydra chip? I'm wondering if the cold weather fuel map is making up for the under performing injectors.

IIRC IPR should reach 34% at max throttle.

Its possible the PCM has a program from a tuner prior
Can you look at the PCM and see if there is a chip on it?

I just checked no chip on the pcm.

possible it was flashed and then chip removed

Might be worth having the PCM checked out
