It's been pretty well established that the frame can handle it, but just for fun...some might remember this dramatic stunt Ford did to show off frame strength.
did you see the comments lol. its a sham. the rigging aparatus is the only thing with a load on it . suckers
Nope, didn't read the comments, don't really care one way or another. I am aware it was a dramatic stunt for marketing, not unlike trucks towing trains etc. Still seemed to be appropriate for a thread discussing frame strength. Sham.or not, the frame is plenty strong and can handle being lifted from the reciever.
ray the rear portion of your truck is likely a bit over 3k. did it bend the frame no. did it bend anything probly not but the hitch isnt the best jacking location
I agree…that’s where I was told to jack and I didn’t really think much about it until AFTER we had done it. Thanks for the insight. On the bright side…the RAS has firmed up my unloaded ride. Seems to be more planted…if that’s possible since it’s a SD.
read the owners manual it will say where good jack points are. probly under the axle at the leaf spring perch.
because your not a mechanic isnt a excuse for ignorance.

Except that the stunt really did not demonstrate frame strength much! Notice the points they suspended the test frame from were in line with the points they pickup up the load of the trucks from?
Good commercial though.
Thanks…because of this group I will be able too. I didn’t sleep well the last few nights. Didn’t know how to tell my wife I had damaged my new to me truck …lol.
I have a 2018 250 Lariat 6.7 4x4 crew cab. I jacked up the rearend yesterday by using a floor jack under my receiver bar in my 2.5 hitch receiver to get my rear wheels off the ground (unload my suspension) to install my RAS. I has the rear wheels about 2 inches off the ground while I did the install. Truck is fine but I have been told I could have bent my frame with the upward pressure at the receiver hitch. I assumed the
receiver hitch would be a strong jack point. Was I wrong? Could I have damaged my frame ?? Thanks
simple match
oin weight on a 3” receiver is 2000lbs
the back of your truck probally weights weighs 4000 lbs
best would be to heck it up fron the axle …I use 2 jacks close to where the axle y bolts are. Not too crazy about jacking it up fron axle pumpkin but folks have done that.
