As some of you know I bought a 2016 Ford F150 XL. I will be looking to new tires down the road and did some online searching. The thing I question, is they call for 17" but the current size is P275/55R20. My question is the rims are Ford rims. Thinking it was maybe an upgrade? They look to be stock fancy Ford rims, not a after market rim. I didn't think to look at the tires size when I bought it so I went out to see what it had and this was a surprise to me. lol. I am curious does this effect the speed reading? 17 to a 20 seems a big jump.
It is hard telling what the previous owner did. If they changed the tires size, your speedo is off, unless they made that correction as well (you can fix that). Because you now have 20" rims, and I assume the door jam says different, take it to a decent tire shop for advise on what size is best.
The wheel diameter doesn't matter, it's the tire diameter that does. Most of the OEM tires are 32" in diameter, no matter what the wheel size is. What tire size is listed on the door frame decal?

I will have to look. According to the window sticker. It was included in the package.
My truck came with LT265/70R17E that is also what my panel sticker says to use. and When you look up tires it only shows that size
My door sticker
I only changed it because the rims on the truck are so rusted and shot. I just couldn't find any rims to fit it till I went to Milliorn and found these.
Also I have never used a tool to program a truck LOL
The truck I got the rims off of is a 2008 250 SD but it came with the 20". Here is the door sticker.
