Help! Gauge Cluster function with Turn Signal Switch removed?
Hey all-
1975 F-150 SuperCab. I currently have my dash / steering column torn apart. I was replacing the bulbs in the gauge cluster and went to test them before rebuilding the steering column, so the turn signal switch was unplugged.
I tried to check the dash lights by hooking up the battery and using the headlight switch.
I got NO lights in the gauge cluster, but the oil pressure gauge moved to about 1/2 way! (engine not running)
The headlights and wiper switch light worked fine.
Did I mess something up, or is this an effect of not having the turn signal switch wired in place?
The connector to the back of the gauge cluster seemed secure and properly located, and the flexible circuit board did not appear to be damaged...
EDIT- I am aware now from the search function and trying to trace through the wiring diagram that the dash lights route through the turn signal switch.
My big concern was that I may have fried / shorted something because the oil gauge was moving with the motor off.
Thanks in advance,
-Josh
