Hi all, old guy glad to have joined. I do not know what the purpose of the CODE is. My truck used power mirrors. I replaced them sometime back with power aftermarket ones and why I do not remembe The mirrors got broken so I decided to go manual since new onew cost so much. The engine light came on so I took to mechanic. After running diagnostic I told him about the switch. He said the system could not reconize the switch and thats why the light came on. Well he reset the light but when I picked up the truck the light came back on because of the manual mirror. I tried put back the broken mirrors and tried to reset myself by taking off the pos. cable, but now the wrench light came on. Sure could use help with reseting the lights. Do not know the rules was this to long of a msg.
The mirrors cannot set a check engine light or turn on the wrench light.
To get the lights to turn off you need to fix what's wrong that made the lights come on. To know what is wrong you need to read the codes.
The best way to read the codes is to get Forscan. It is free at www.forscan.org. Their page also shows how to select an adapter to plug into the OBDII port on your truck. If you don't want to do this, you could pay a good independent shop or a Ford dealer to read the codes. The places that read codes free can read some of the codes, but not all of the codes.

Thank Mark, here is what the mechanic said after we told him about going from power to manual. The system could not reconize the mirror switch so anytime there is a problem the engine light will come on because it could be anything. Also is this the way to reply.

Yes, replying can be done multiple ways on the forum.
You need to find a different mechanic because I'm pretty sure he doesn't know what he's talking about. Switching to aftermarket manual mirrors won't set an engine light, there's no code for that. You'll just have a switch on your door that won't do anything anymore.
Is the truck running differently than it used to? Does anything seem wrong with it? I would suggest, if you don't have the ability to pull codes yourself, to head to a reputable shop or the dealer and have them pull the codes and diagnose your truck's issues. It's probably coincidental that the light came on after you changed mirrors.

He's wrong.
By law, the only way the check engine light can come on is when there is a problem that will cause an increase in engine emissions. The mirrors cannot do that. Maybe you need a mechanic that knows what he/she is doing.
I use a promaster for work. To shorten this story, the aat sensor is in the left mirror. When it failed, the ac would not work.
p.s. I affectionately call it euro trash.

I have no idea what a "promaster" might be or how it might relate to this thread.
In any event, the AAT sensor is in the RIGHT side mirror on the F-series pickups that don't have them behind the front grill as far as I've seen. It will, at a minimum, prevent A/C operation. Beyond that, don't know offhand.
For the above poster who might need to look around once in a while, promaster is the full size van imported from Italy. Dodge, ram, fca, fiat, ducato, and several other names on the other side of the pond. Maybe a pic will help you out.
I wad trying to explain how the failed aat set the check engine lite, and caused other issues.
