Speedometer Bounce

I've looked around online and can't find a solution so I thought I'd ask here: I've got a 1996 f250 with a 7.3 and the speedometer bounces by about +- 15mph with the BABS module plugged in. It'll start once I achieve ~35mph. I don't have any ABS lights that come on or anything. When I unplug the BABS module it runs fine until ~65mph. The only thing I can think of is the PSOM at this point but wanted to get some feedback before I pulled the trigger. Other symptoms would be I've had the speedometer and the odometer completely shut off on my for a split second while driving. I also have the OD randomly come on when it's raining but I think that's a whole nother issue.

I am fighting an issue very similar . My speedo was very slow to come up and would at times mess up the 1-2 shift. I replaced the vss with a standard one. My issue got mostly better. I pulled diff cover to check tone ring and carrier bearings. All was well so I got an oem vss as I still had a slight hunt at 65 so cruise control was not usable. I think so far the speedo is steady enough to use cruise...we are going camping this coming weekend and I would like to not wear my right foot out...

My first thought upon reading your post was, “Did you steal my truck?!” The way you describe the speedometer bouncing and even the speedo and odometer shutting off sounds exactly like my truck. I don’t have any answers for you, but this is relevant to my interests. Please let me know if you get this figured out!

Sorry for taking so long on the update. What I found out was that the sensor was bad. Everything looked a-okay on the outside but the internals must have been damaged. Ended up using one from Standard Motor Products and it's been running smooth ever since. I also used some dielectric on it but I don't know if that ended up being necessary or not. I would say to try this since it's a ~$20 part. I've seen some people say that if your truck is shifting very rough along with the wobbling speedo, then it is most like a PSOM issue. But I would try the speedometer sensor first.
