My speedometer was not functioning properly at highway speed. After replacing the VSS I decided to unplug the RABS module. Its been disconnected for two weeks now and the speedometer works great.
I picked up a used module on Ebay for only a couple bucks. Its from a 95 as well, but has a slightly different part number and the case is plastic. Mine has a metal case.
I installed the one I got from Ebay, but havent driven the truck yet. I'm wondering if it will cause issues. How many different modules are there and what is interchangable?
Well, I tried the new used module tonight and it was only slightly better than the original one. I guess I am going to buy a remanufactured one. I wish I could find a new one.
What is it about this module that causes an erratic speedo? Also, If I get a remanufactured one and the problem is still there what should I look at?
I have a nearly new PSOM. It also did it with my old one. I hope thats not the case. I have a low mileage mint condition Lightning instrument cluster. I'm not saying your not right, but I don't really see how that could be.
With the new used RABS module the speedo issue is not as pronounced but begins at a lower speed.
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...gear-e40d.html Ok I was wrong. Read the first post by subford in this link.
Seems like your second RABS module is also bad.
As far as getting a new ECM is concerned I think rockauto.com has them.
I know it works fine, but I really want to have ABS for when the roads are icy in the winter here, or just for when it rains. With all the poor drivers around here, I'd feel better.
