Hey guys kind of new here when it comes to posting I use you guys a lot for answers to my other questions but I have a 94 F150 Flareside with the 4.9 and it not original engine and after a rain for a couple days later it struggles to stay at a steady speed starts losing power till I get on the gas then it catches back up and then it'll bog back down until I hit the gas again further and so on and so on. I've changed 90% of fuel except for injectors I've changed wires caps plugs distributor itself everything I can think of I'm leaning towards wiring but don't know where it could be hitting getting wires wet other than maybe the driver side where the computer is and everything underneath the cowl. Please help, she is almost perfectly running now other than this weird issue.
Just me but I would be hesitant to introduce an unknown spark plug into an ongoing issue. Your cowl can create a possible water source for problems. You can make sure everything under the cowl in the bay is nice and dry. Close the hood and run a little water from a hose on the windshield and let it run down to the cowl. Open it up and see if you see any signs of intrusion and where it's going. The PCM area should be checked good. There is supposed to be a gasket for the PCM where it is secured with a 10mm bolt . If everything is dry when you hose it, I would run diagnostic code test to see what comes up. You don't have to have a CEL to have codes.
Check all ignition components. Plug wires and coil wire for sure. Best thing to do is to get a spray bottle of water and start squirting things one by one until you get the results of the misfire.
I like the spray bottle idea. If you use it and it works, then you can use the hose technique to hopefully find the source of the intrusion so it can be fixed.
I'll have to try those ideas tomorrow! It ran great yesterday, almost like a new truck.... rained last night and today and it bogged, bucked, struggled wanted to die unless gased... whatever you call it. Ill keep everyone updated.
