I have a normal piece of garbage harbor freight grease gun. I like the manual pumping of it, as I heard you don’t want to use automatic ones but to release the spring pressure, and to put the pressure back on the grease is a pain. And the stupid think came apart and I can’t get it back together. Tired of that thing every time I touch it it’s a pain to use, and turns into me having to figure out why it’s not working. Any recommendations on good quality manual ones? That’s easy to release and compress the spring? That’s the biggest pain with the one I have since every time I have to change the grease the release mechanism is stuck.
Can't really go too wrong with Lincoln or Lubrimatic, IMHO. I use the Milwaukee M12 powered gun but only do my own vehicles. I did add the Lock n Lube coupler which makes this task much easier as it frees up one hand.
Are you using a lil tube gun, you know the toy, Basically just put end in a vise and push the tube part to it and screw it together, The big guns lock the rod back with the spring, Do you have a hand grip or lever action gun, Most at home jobs only need the lil toy grease gun, The big gun holds so much grease it takes years to MT<> Lincoln is a great choice for the price. I have a hand pump one for 55 years now several hoses and swivel fittings later. Hundreds of tubes of moly pumped thru it,
It’s the lever one I have now I’ll look into the ones you guys mentioned
I have a tiny one, but I use the full size one.
I’d run out of grease in the tiny one too often. So I don’t use it.
I don’t have a bench vise or anything to hold the housing of the gun while I push the spring in and lock the rod.
I have one of those but because i have nothing but Milwaukee cordless tools it was quite a bit less then $288. I also see a lot of similar Milwaukee tools used in commercial garages but in the M18 series as they have the larger grease capacity.
My brother and I use the 20 volt cordless Dewalt grease guns. Works well for both of our trucks and makes greasing the project vehicle a lot quicker and easier. Then again that has more grease fittings then we want to count anymore.
X2 on the grease gun Lock-N-Lube coupler, so much easier when the end stays on the zert by itself. If you are getting the end coupler might as well get the whole grease gun from them.
AND check out the Lock-n- Lube air chuck/hose lock on the valve stem connector. Air chuck has option of open flow or closed flow. https://locknlube.com/collections/air-tools
