Had a California parts truck show up on fb near me,(mn) thats really clean , cab, doors, fenders. It's 99 2wd super cab with a 5.4. I have an 02 4x4 7.3. Are these cabs the same? I thought I read some where that there was a change in the 02 or so that one of the harnesses ran across the cab floor in a groove as opposed to a different location.
Yeah, there's some differences, but I don't know exactly which ones you need to watch for. Just trying to make a gasser cab work for a diesel would give me some pause for reflection, LOL.
UGH. This and who know what else is different is more work than I would want to take on.
After that....pretty easy. Rip the 5.4 dash out, all the wiring harness', install the 7.3 harness and dash. The door harness, you have to take the door panel off and unhook everything in the door and then extract the harness from the door.
It's not that bad really, a little careful cutting on the firewall, some welding....heck you could probably overlay it, some seam sealer and pop rivets...good to go.
It's also a great time to sound insulate the firewall.
I was thinking pretty much would have to completely gut each and transfer over all wiring.. not real sure if id want to tackle it as it is but if there's a bunch of other modifications to do also...I dunno. Just looks pretty tempting with all the body parts being good shape and matching color.
