What's the proper way to get rid of an old fuel tank? I've got this smelly thing sitting next to my house stinking up my driveway that's partially full of varnish and who knows what else.
Man you are making this Way to easy. I could tell what I would do but it's illegal.
Like killing weeds
Check with your local fire dept or Dept of Public Works or maybe auto parts store(s)
I know most DPW and auto stores take drain oil but not gas or old gas or anti freeze.
When you find out what to do let us know as it can help others.

If the tank is dry with no liquid then it really has no haz waste, and can be tossed in a metal recycling bin or dumpster. It is just like letting old paint in a can dry hard and tossing it. You can rinse and dump it, then let it dry, and then toss it. Pesticide containers are triple rinsed and then tossed.
Yea so my buddy was heading to the scrap yard with a load and we just threw it on the truck. I don't have enough right now worth my time for the drive or I would have done it. No issue they took it.
