I didnt think our truck came with those. I ended up adding a filter to the bottom of my sending unit on my saddle tank in my 1970 f250. I thought the filter were added to the later 70s models.

There is no sock. The suction pipe is soldered in and cannot be removed. The socks were used on vehicles that the fuel sender and suction pipe were mounted together.

Yikes! Sounds like you have enough on your plate so it’s good you don’t have to deal with the inside of a gas tank.
At least that’s one step in the right direction.

Hope your mom’s OK and yes broken hips can be extremely serious even when the person isn’t that old. But a good attitude and the help they get from their children is almost certainly what gets them through those dilemmas.

I’ve had several elderly neighbors with that problem and all of them healed quickly with help from the kids.
So the good attitude part is important coming in from both sides.

Good luck to your mom, and your family.
And your truck too of course! Which may get ignored for a short time.😉
