VIN and Fuel Pump
I moved you here to Large Truck.
F61 = F600 gas, 4x2
D = 330 2V HD FT gas V8
C = Ontario Truck Plant
E51583 = 1969 numerical series, December 1968 production
156 = 156 inch wheelbase
G = Chrome Yellow (Silver Smoke Gray Metallic shows "Canada Only" & Ivy Green Metallic (Light or Medium) shows for MY '70 under that code)
F617 = F600 gas, 4x2, 20,200 lbs GVWR
4B81
4B = Black leather grained vinyl
81 = Standard cab
A = New Process model 435 four speed transmission
F2B
F2 = Eaton model 15201 two speed rear axle, 15,000 lbs capacity, 5.83 / 8.12 ratios
B = Ford 5,500 lb capacity front axle
20000 = 20,000 lbs GVWR. This conflicts with the model code info that says 20,200. This truck is a special order--perhaps that had something to do with it or maybe it's a typo or.....
164 3800 = 164 certified net HP @ 3800 RPM
410594
41 = Chicago District Sales Office
0594 = Special Order Number

The fuel pump is "the same" for all FE/FT engines.

There are variations. Some have a canister with a fuel filter, some don't. There may be some issues with the way the fuel lines enter and exit to the carb. Take your pump with you to exchange it or at least make sure you are getting an identical replacement.
This shows the full range of fitment for these, going back to the Y-block.

Did you end up with a crankcase full of gas or an engine compartment washdown.....?
My dad rolled in one night with the '58 F600. Says he smells gas. We popped the hood and the fuel pump was pulsing out a spray of gas all over the place. I do not know why it didn't catch fire.....

It did the engine bay spray routine. A real gusher. Lucky it didn't blow hitting the exhaust. Mine is a canister version with filter on the bottom. It's up on a ranch in the mountains so will try and take one up there. Saw some bad reviews on Delphi fittings. I don't have any experience with Carter parts. I see that the Carter M3880 is still available. Can't seem to find any Airtex ones on the internet. Is there a new model rather than the D2TZ9350A in the thread? Any ideas on whether the Napa b-001-P is any good? Sure appreciate the input. Jack
PS anything else revealed in the VIN - color, etc.?
As to more info, you may still have the OEM warranty plate on the driver door. That has the color code, axle, trans etc. If you can post a picture it can be decoded.
How are the wheels? Widowmakers are common on these.

I've been told a billion times not to exaggerate, but I would still urge you to find some safer wheels. Older GMC military trucks used the same 6 lug pattern and have the "safe" locking ring design, vs. the Tupperware design of the WM wheels.
