96 460 EFI build
I'm re building a 460 from a barn find 1996 F250 XLT that I purchased recently that had issues with oil pressure. My father in-law and I are building it together and are trying to make some decisions on which is the best route to go. We both want the truck to sound great but still have plenty of torque for towing, but its not necessarily a daily driver, more of a weekend play toy with benefits. The feedback that I've gotten so far is that with the EFI I'm probably not going get the idle chop that I'm hoping for and may have issues with MAP if I go too big on cam and maybe I should go with something like a summit K3500. It was suggested that if I go w bigger cam that I would need tuner, unfortunately, I'm having difficulty locating information to help me understand how I should proceed, I have purchased new aluminum heads and plan to possibly have the intake modified by the EFI 460 guys as well am considering the low profile throttle body. We will be installing shorty headers, true dual exhaust w X pipe and flow masters. Other than those mods, I welcome feedback from those who have experience in this type of build.
Thanks in advance.
